“Anywhere”: precision pop with a clear pulse from Pol Sembrano

Out September 9, 2025, “Anywhere” distills Pol Sembrano’s toolkit to essentials: a rubber-band bassline, dry drum programming with intent, and vintage-leaning pads that widen the stereo field without smearing detail. Casey Lewis (Echo Base Studios) keeps the mix uncluttered—each element has a job, and silence is part of the arrangement. The topline lands fast, but never resorts to sugar; it’s memorable because it’s measured.

The narrative—travel, memory, resilience—arrives baked into delivery rather than underlined by theatrics. You hear it in the phrasing, the controlled lift of the chorus, the refusal to overproduce the bridge. References surface as design cues (Camouflage, The Beloved, New Order, Erasure) rather than costume, and the hardware sheen remains intact while still reading contemporary. Early press nods from We Rave You, The Big Takeover and Grungecake frame the project as danceable and reflective—a rare overlap that “Anywhere” makes feel obvious.

Seattle-based, Filipino-American and classically trained, Sembrano writes, sings, plays and programs solo; the forthcoming self-titled album (February 2026) promises the same economy with broader scope. Surviving the 2004 Thailand tsunami isn’t used as spectacle—it explains the song’s calm urgency. Joy, yes; but with perspective.
