ONEQ

ONEQ was born in 1981 in Kyushu island, south-east Japan.

She is an illustrator, drawer and much more…

“My illustration might be defined as pop style with an underground flavor. I like to create simple images in my work. I start with a pencil and sketchbook and then use photoshop type programs to add color. I like orange and red tones the most.”

WHAT DOES DESIGN MEAN FOR YOU?

“A child seems to collect a butterfly.
I think simply.
The infinite butterfly is hiding into white paper.
It is pleasant to find it.”

WHICH ARTIST HAS MOST INFLUENCED YOUR STYLE?

“I have many favorite writers. Enoch Bolles, Simon Bisley, Rumiko Takahashi, Rockin’Jelly Bean…etc
Each female drawing which they draw is wonderful.
My work as an illustrator includes a variety of genre such as magazine artwork, DVD cover art, apparel and clothing art, and manga illustrations. I mix Japanese and American art styles when dealing with manga designs.”

WHICH IS THE THING THAT YOU USUALLY FIND EASIER TO DO IN YOUR WORKS? AND WHAT ABOUT THE HARDER ONE?

“The time of drawing the line is easy for me, and pleasant.
The work of a curve or a black shade is simple and it can concentrate it.
Coloring is difficult for me.
I have the peculiarity of coloring too much superfluously.
However, if sunglasses are carried out to me, it may solve. lol”

DO YOU USE TO LISTEN TO MUSIC WHILE YOU ARE WORKING? IF IT IS SO, WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE SONG?

“Yes.
I listen to music, when drawing.
Music may be changed by the image of a picture to draw.
Hard rock, heavy metal, electronica, and pop — it is heard broadly.”
